Starting a Concession Business

A business venture I went into was the food concession business. We purchased a concession trailer and sold all types of food from hot dogs and Italian sausages to hamburgers and chicken sandwiches. While it may seem like an easy business to start and be successful in, it is much more difficult than it may seem at first. There are licenses and certifications to obtain, fees and taxes to pay, and food inspections to handle. This is just the side of concessions needed to start this type of business legally within the state, county, and city it is operating in. There are many things that must be done and you must do research on how to start a concession business so that mistakes will not bring costly fines and trouble with the local authorities and government.

If you are looking to enter into the mobile food concession business, once you have received all your licenses and certificates, paid your taxes and dues, and had your food inspections done, you must then worry about the actual running of the business. Things like food choice, location, hiring and firing of employees, inventory, and many other issues are constantly needing attention in one way or another. This can be very draining work and should not be entered into lightly. If you are looking for an easy way to make money, this is definitely not the job for you. However, if you want to try for that ever-elusive way into the fast food or restaurant business, and you have the money to take on such an immense investment the mobile food concession business can be a very profitable and lucrative business. And while the investment is a huge financial burden, time, patience, and money are all required ways to begin and successfully maintain this type of business.
